DAS GEFÜHL DER WIRKLICHKEIT
As our society continuous to progress, the material quality of life also increases, whereas our psychological wellbeing seems to lag behind. Everything indicates improvement, and yet frustration and stress abound and many people feel alarmingly close to burnout and depression. The elderly look back with nostalgia and believe that “everything was better in those days”. And young people face an uncertain future with a deep sense of worry, seeking happiness is a wide range of ephemeral distractions.
Das Gefühl der Wirlichkeit is a solo work that talks about sleepless nights and fear, but also extends to contemplate the joy of what may still be to come. The piece is a journey through contemporary society and its myriad emotional oscillations. By combining dance and video, the performance embraces nostalgia but also urges the audience to let go and head forward.

Rebecca Dirler
Rebecca Dirler was born in Lana and lives in Berlin. In 2014 she graduated from the Mozarteum in Salzburg in Elementary Music and Dance Education and continued her studies at the Etage e.V. in Berlin. She works as a performer and creates her own pieces, which move between the disciplines of contemporary dance, dance theatre and acrobatics as well as site specific performances. Since 2018 she has been working with the company Theater Anu.
