RADIX

PERFORMANCE
WORLD PREMIERE

The root of a plant is the element that anchors it to the ground and provides it with water and mineral salts. Intertwined roots create the bases underpinning the life that develops above: a tree, for instance, that sends up its branches in the directions best suited to growth. So every plant constructs a complex system made of interaction and communication between smaller parts, which together make up a serried network. In this production a number of dancers from Alto Adige meet up on fertile ground, sending out roots underground and exploring the behaviour of their bodies and the mechanisms of cooperation to achieve a shared expression that is part of a wider context. Together they delve into the concept of collective intelligence in order to understand certain key aspects of life and its evolution. With this performance the aim is to find a shared language and create a form of choreography similar to a complex system that includes society, forests, the web, financial markets, the human brain and the light of every single star.
Beginning with natural elements that have already developed such qualities, the event strives to integrate the expressive element of human beings, who are still struggling to achieve a similar balance.

COLLETTIVO DANZA ALTO ADIGE

An association of several dance groups in South Tyrol, Südtiroler Tanzkollektiv promotes dance through the Alps Move dance theatre festival and the Community Dance Academy. The collective focuses on productions with South Tyrolean choreographers and/or dancers, who thus have the opportunity to present themselves and their work. Marion Sparber, Riccardo Meneghini and Martina Marini were hired as choreographers for the “Radix” production.
