In his song “Imagine” of the 1970s, John Lennon conjured up a world without war and inequality. Over fifty years later, however, this is still a dream waiting to become true.

The word “peace” can give us a feeling of hopelessness and impossibility. Today few people actually believe that it could come about, that conflict could be resolved and millions of people saved from famine and death. Imago aims to counteract this sense of powerlessness and failure and to invest the dream of peace with new hope. It is an invitation to bring together our creative minds and further the changes we think are necessary for a better world. Unhampered by the physical constraints of a theatre, the performance takes place in the streets of Bolzano during a walk that lasts for around 30 minutes, with stops en route in three different places relating to images of peace. Alto Adige is a region that has struggled not just for independence, but also for peace and social wellbeing. Given this shared history, the performance is a sort of commemoration, and at the same time a projection towards the future, an invitation to breathe new life into the inner peace we all desire.
